You can either go 5 north and then 58 East or 14 North and then 58 West. These directions are for the 5 North towards Bakersfield.
After you come down the hill (Grapevine), exit Lavel Road East towards Arvin. At the end of the exit ramp there is a Burger King/Pizza Hut/etc. You will be on Wheeler Ridge Road. Stay on Wheeler Ridge Road for 16.3 miles, then turn right on Bear Mountain Road (Route 223) towards Arvin. Go straight through Arvin on 223 about 9 miles and contiue on for about 7 more miles then you will see a sign which says Highway 58 EAST. Take a right (going east) onto Highway 58 towards Mojave, and get in the left hand lane, go about 1.2 miles and take the left hand turn (exit) towards Caliente. Go straight for about 5 miles (you will go over railroad tracks at Bealville, you will pass the Caliente Disposal on the left, the Caliente Post office on the right, over the second set of railroad tracks, past the Caliente School sign, past the Toll House Ranch (green)until you get to a sign which has a Y on it, denoting a fork in the road. (There is another sign which says Bar and Grill and Cowboy Memorial straight ahead) This is important, because you need to go LEFT, up the hill --the road is called Caliente Bodfish. *** Stay on Caliente Bodfish for 9.5 miles. At the bottom of the hill, you will pass a sign which says Rankin Ranch. Just a little further, there is a corner. Turn right onto Walker Basiin Road (Abandon Caliente Bodfish and go on Walker Basin Road). Stay on Walker Basin Road for about 2.7 miles, until you dead end into Walker Basin Road. (Junction of Walker Basin Road and Walker Basin Road). Turn left onto Walker Basin Road. Turn right on Johns Rd. which will end at Williams Rd. The 2 parcels are straight ahead and to your left.
***If you do not want to go up and down the Caliente Bodfish way, you can stay on Caliente Creek Road by going STRAIGHT at the fork, staying on it for about 35-45 minutes, through Twin Oaks, through Paris Lorraine, past the Fire Station where Caliente Creek Road magically turns into Walker Basin Road, stay on Walker Basin Road until it runs into Johns Rd. Trun right on to Dailey Rd wich ends at Williams. The 2 parcels are straight ahead and to your left.
You may wish to fill up your gas tank before you leave. There is no gas in Walker Basin and your cell phone won't work. It will be helpful if you use these directions-if you try to use Map Quest, Yahoo or your GPS rather than these directions, you may be directed to roads which do not exist.
